UA vs GA4 Power BI Dashboard (free)

In my first article “GA3 vs GA4 comparaison”, I made a Looker studio dashboard that allows you to compare your old Universal Analytics account to the new Google analytics 4. Many of you have been asking for a Power BI version of this dashboard, so here it is.

Replicate this dashboard was way longer and harder than expected due to the lack of efficiency from the API connector in PowerBI (more on this topic here).

The first page is called “tutorial” and will help you connect the dashboard to your own data source with the Google analytics connector. It’s just a few steps and not too complex, I will give you a quick summary here :

Download the dashboard here.
Go to your UA and GA4 account on https://analytics.google.com/analytics/web/
Write down you Accounts ID, Property ID and View ID (View ID only for GA3).
Open the dashboard and on the data sources on the right click on the three dot “more option” and then “modify query”.
Once you’re on the editor page, click on each data source on the left menu one by one and click “advanced editor”.
When the query is opened replace “YOUR-ID-HERE” by the corresponding ID (Account/property/view). Save and repeat the process for the 7 sources.
Note : If you have any doubt at this step, you can also add a new data source with the Google analytics connector, connect to your account, go the advanced editor and copy the first lines of the query to the already made GA3 and GA4 datasources.
Refresh the dashboard and you should be good to go !
